Garden Tap Pizza and Beer Garden and Farmers Brewing

Yesterday found us in the town of Mount Shasta, located at the foot of our very own smoldering stratovolcano.

Needing refreshment for the drive back to Redding, we swung by the Garden Tap, a pizza oriented food truck and beer garden, located in the middle of the Native Grounds Nursery.  Perfect temperature and shady tables were there, and before sitting down Mrs. CW and the Icelandic Daughter had fun wandering the nursery and finding all sorts of growing things to add to the garden here at home.

The day we were there, the beer list had been updated to feature brews from a local artisan brewery, Farmers Brewery.  Family owned by a long time farming family, the brews were fantastic, light and perfect for a smooth summer evening.

They have their own wood fired pizza oven, and you can watch, if you want, the crew stoking the fire and making the pizza while you wait.

Being hungry, we got three, and washed them down with golden hued beers (plus a kombucha - weird stuff the daughter likes to drink).

The view from our table.

Feast.  We have the leftovers in the fridge.

A fun day out and about, and good food and drink to nicely tie up the adventure.

  4. Thanks for sharing that. My wife's family is from McCloud, so we do go up there on occasion, just to enjoy the surroundings and walk the streets of the old town. Pizza in the nursery sounds great.

  5. Might I suggest the book "Steam Days in Dunsmuir" if you can find it. That whole area from Sacramento to Portland ,OR was developed by the Southern Pacific RR. They established all those towns in between and how Shasta was a retreat with
water shipped around the country in special cars. Lots of historical pictures.
