Dangerous Country

  1. HK93 in 7.62x51, issue scope (probably a Hensoldt) and mount, unknown (non-factory) stock.

    1. Stock is a Spuhr. It delivers recoil more directly to the shoulder, (supposedly) enhancing precision by virtue of the gun being more controllable. Also, it looks cool, resulting in hyperaccuracy, increased zoomitude for the boolits and gobs more super-groovitudinality.

    1. HA! Was gonna correct you. :) Yep, 7.62 for sure. Had mine for 37 years. Loved that rifle. This one has a few differences than mine, tho. Handguard, stock, scope and flash suppressor are different. Plus he ought to get some noiseless slings for it.

  3. Yeah that's a .308 or also called 7.62x51 nato. Magazine size is the give away

  5. Nothing like a reliable 308. Got me one, its a 16 inch bbl Saiga, AK type, great little carbine, ordered it back in 2008, gun shop charge $378 bucks in the box. A hvy dty 308 for that price, just a great price on a very fine quality Russian rifle. Been super reliable, mounted up a Trijicon reflex sight, got the tritium powered, triangle reticule, swing away 3 power magnifier, its a deadly accurate weapon.

  6. I thought real hard about getting an HK91 one time. It seems like it solves almost every problem you'd solve with a rifle.

  7. Dangerous? I'd say, SAFE was a better word.

  8. I bought one soon after they arrived for sale in the US, about '84 or '85.
Walked in, paid my money, walked out with a new rifle. Good times those were.
Operator manual is in German, but there were enough pictures that I could figure it out. Cost just over 500 dollars then, several thousand now.
Softest shooting 308 I ever shot, but that tinky little cocking nublet is a real bear to operate. I see this one has a larger one.

  9. In 1984 I had to choose between the German made HK91 and Walther PP. I chose the Walther as it was $450 vs $750. Still have the Walther but wish I had the HK.
