      It seems to me the efficiency of the trailing props would be hampered by the turbulence from the leading props.

    5. Sure, its more efficient than a single prop. You take the energy of the circular swirl (induced by the leading prop) and straighten it in the second prop - converting it to thrust. Same thing in gas tubine stages. THis is just open air.
