And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Here in WV you can. You get a .22 instead, and a single bbl 410 shotty. Even have state wide first day of tree rat season for kids only, get your mug in the paper with your first squirrel, or first turkey or deer. Different world here in these mountains.
Most of my family lives in WVA. Grew up eating squirrel at grandma's house. Beautiful state with great deer and turkey hunting. Good hard working folks there. - Snakepit
I must've shot 30000 bbs as a kid on the farm. First one Grandma bought for me but I was so little I could just barely cock it but she taught me good. Over the kid years I shot more sparrows than should be humanely allowed. I shot rabbits and even pheasants with a bb gun. Shot the boar hog in the sack a few times as well just to see his tail go crazy lol. Shhh, don't tell anyone. Used to go to carnivals as a kid and lay my quarter down to shoot what ever the target was for the prize. The Carny would shut me off because I never missed. Joined the Marines and won certificates and medals for the shooting skills that originated from my Grandmother's BB gun instruction to a 5 yr old kid 60 years ago.

ReplyDeleteWe had BB gun wars in the woods when I was a kid. Raised some welts but never shot anyone's eye out.
ReplyDeleteSome things never change.
ReplyDeleteEvery boy who started out with a Red Ryder always ended up wanting a little beaver.
And not Jerry Mathers.
