  2. I was born there and lived there (west side) for many years. Euclid Beach amusement park was a fun place as a kid. The Humphrey company made popcorn and candy kisses, and took over the park in 1901. The park finally closed in 1969.

One of the rides there was the Rocket Ship ride, and after the park shut down, an enthusiast purchased one of the rocket ships and made a car of of it -- it could seat up to 10 adults. The Rocket Ship Car is still around in 2025 (see its story and photos at http://www.rocketshipcar.com/ )

    humphrey's kisses, the dentist's friend.

my father was a sandlot baseball notable in that decade and worked out with the Indians with other high school (he Collinwood) students. Moe Berg was on the team. dad went on to three years in the minors, his second was in Williamston, NC, with the "Martins". he roomed other team mates in a boarding house/drugstore/lunch counter owned by Gaylord Perry's parents, as did my mother who was a school teacher.
